🌿 Live Life Balanced: A Conversation with Robin Jonas

Small Shifts, Clean Living, and Nourishment from the Inside Out

When I first met Robin Jonas, I knew she was someone who lived her message. We connected while studying at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and formed a mastermind group that kept us accountable, curious, and supported as we each built our wellness businesses.

Robin is the founder of Live Life Balanced and host of the Healthy Habits for a Healthy Home Podcast, where she helps others make small, meaningful changes that create lasting impact. In this episode of the Plant Powered Collective Podcast, we talked about balance, clean eating, non-toxic living, and what it really means to nourish yourself… body, mind, and environment.

💚 What It Means to Live Life Balanced

Robin believes that balance isn’t about doing everything perfectly—it’s about making small, consistent shifts that add up over time. Whether that’s cleaning up your nutrition, reducing household toxins, or adding more presence to your day, every small act of awareness contributes to better health and greater peace.

We talked about:
✨ How toxin exposure impacts energy, mood, and longevity
✨ Simple ways to “clean up” your home and diet without overwhelm
✨ The connection between what’s on your plate and what’s around your plate; things like your sleep, stress, and relationships
✨ The mindset shift from “all or nothing” to “little by little”

“When we focus on small, manageable changes, we build confidence and momentum. Health becomes a joyful process instead of a chore.” — Robin Jonas

🌱 Clean Eating as a Foundation

Clean eating doesn’t have to be complicated. It’s about real, whole, colorful foods that fuel your body and bring you joy. Here are a few recipes mentioned in the episode that embody that approach: simple, flavorful, and nourishing.

🥣 Nourishing Bowl

Build your bowl with a foundation of greens or grains, then add:

  • Roasted vegetables (see recipe below)

  • Protein of choice (like lentil balls, chickpeas, or lean meat)

  • A drizzle of tahini or lemon-olive oil dressing

  • A sprinkle of seeds or sprouts for texture and vitality

🥕 Carrot Salad

A bright, crunchy favorite.

  • 2 cups shredded carrots

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar

  • Salt, pepper, and try a handful of chopped parsley or other herbs for a fresh bite, then toss gently and refrigerate before serving.

🌾 Roasted Vegetables

Roasting brings out natural sweetness and texture.

  • Chop your favorite mix or buy veggies already chopped to save time: sweet potatoes, carrots, cauliflower, zucchini, and onions

  • Toss with olive oil, salt, and herbs

  • Roast at 400°F for 25–30 minutes until golden and caramelized

🌿 Lentil Balls

These make an excellent meal prep item or salad topper.

  • 2 cups cooked lentils

  • ½ cup oats or breadcrumbs

  • 2 cups of minced mushrooms

  • 1 cup finely chopped kale

  • 1 cup of finely chopped raw walnuts

  • 1 clove garlic, minced

  • Any herbs (dried and fresh) to match your vibe - I like rosemary, thyme, sage, and oregano

  • 1 tbsp tomato paste

  • Salt, pepper, and herbs of choice

Smash/mash the lentils with a potato masher. Toast the walnuts until golden brown in a 325-degree oven for about 9 minutes. In a large skillet, saute mushrooms, kale, garlic, and herbs. Add the walnuts, mushrooms/kale mixture, oats/breadcrumbs, and tomato paste to the mashed lentils and mix. Form into small balls and bake at 375°F for 20–25 minutes. Serve them with a grave, whipped savory tofu, or hummus.

🌱 Sprouts: Grow & Use

Growing sprouts is easier than you think.

  • Use a simple sprouting jar and seeds like alfalfa, mung beans, or lentils.

  • Rinse twice daily until sprouted (about 3–5 days).

  • Add to salads, bowls, or avocado toast for extra crunch, enzymes, and micronutrients.

Clean Living, Simplified

We also explored how clean eating is just one part of the equation. Clean living… from what you eat to what you use in your home… creates a ripple effect on health and well-being.

It’s full of easy swaps and trusted products that help reduce your daily toxin exposure without the guesswork.

🌸 Connection and Collaboration

I loved this conversation because it wasn’t just about nutrition, it was about connection. Robin and I share a belief that nourishment is multi-dimensional. It’s the food on your plate, the air you breathe, the relationships you nurture, and the sense of purpose that fuels your choices.

When we live with awareness and intention, balance becomes possible and joy becomes sustainable.
